Rose Tattoos on Women

There is a beautiful legend in Greek Mythology that tells us Aphrodite, goddess of Love, gave the Rose its name. Chloris, the goddess of flowers, created it when she found the lifeless body of a beautiful nymph in the forest. Chloris called upon the other deities to help her right the wrong of this nymph's death. Aphrodite gave her beauty, Dionysus, the god of wine, added nectar to give her a sweet perfume, the three Graces gave her charm, brightness and joy. Chloris then called upon Zephyr, the West Wind, to blow away the clouds so Apollo, the sun god, could shine and make the flower bloom.

The rose goes back into antiquity, in fact, fossilised roses have been found that are several million years old. It has always been regarded, in Western civilisation, as the closest thing to perfect beauty.

The rose image has been used on royal standards, coats of arm, castle and palace decorations. It has been used in countless paintings, embroideries, etchings, carvings and photographs. Its simple and elegant beauty has endured through time, as has its message of beauty and love. It has always stood as an expression of love. Small wonder then, that numerous women have chosen it as a favourite tattoo. It can be used simply as a beautiful decoration or as a memento of a loved one or an event in one's life. In fact, it serves all purposes very well.

Rose tattoos have been favourites from the beginning and are still the most popular flower tattoo. Each person can decide the message she wants to send and the colour, size and placement of the tattoo. Whether done for decoration or love the image of the rose is a thing of lasting beauty.

Shoulders, lower legs, ankles and feet are popular places for tattoos on women, so too with rose tattoos. Women celebrities have been drawn to the rose, from a single large rose on a shoulder to a bouquet of roses on an ankle. One has a stemmed rose on her ankle while another has a heart and a rose on her lower leg, obviously an expression of love. Some people like to be different - one supermodel has a tattoo of a rose and skull on her upper arm. Others like to be daring, with a rose tattoo on a breast.

There is no doubt rose tattoos will stay favourites as, like roses themselves, they depict timeless beauty and elegance and give us all a great deal of pleasure.

5 Tips For a Successful Baptism Or Christening With Baptism Outfits and Rompers

The birth of a new child is a cause for celebration for everyone in the family! For many Christian families, the introduction of this new life requires a baptism or christening ceremony where the church and the family welcome and make official the beginning of your child's Christian life. In the early days of Christianity, baptism was mostly performed on adults, as most people were new to the Christian religion. However as time has passed this initiation is now commonly performed on infants, with a naming ceremony included within the service. For lots of new parents, a baptism ceremony may be hard to organize with a range of issues to plan. However, if you follow the few tips given below, it will help your day to run smoothly and be enjoyed by everyone - especially your little one!

1. Don't forget the simple stuff-plan in advance

Perhaps the easiest way to make your child's christening or baptism as successful as possible is to ensure that all aspects of the day are as well thought-out as possible. The type of day you wish to have can determine a lot of other factors, including such things as the location of the event, choice of attire and nature of the ceremony itself. So remember that a little bit of advanced planning will lead to a better outcome!

2. Choose your location

Traditionally, baptisms and christenings are held within a church, and for many, holding the ceremony in a sanctified place is a significant and important aspect of the ceremony. However, it is also possible to hold the ceremony within your home or even in your garden, depending on the time of year. Holding the ceremony at home can often be a more intimate experience and you also have all the advantages of home to care for your child's comfort.

3. Choose your child's Godparents

Once you have chosen the location you will be able to discuss with your priest or pastor about the different requirements you have for the ceremony, and also inform them of who your child's godparents are. Asking a close friend or family member to act as your child's Godparent can be a very rewarding experience and an important responsibility (in most cases these will have been chosen in advance to the ceremony plans being made).

4. Choose your child's attire.

Your next decision will be about what your child will wear for their special day. Christenings or baptisms would traditionally see children wearing christening gowns because they are symbolic of the christening event. These christening gowns are usually white, in order to symbolize innocence and purity, and can be purchased in a wide range of materials such as cotton batiste, shantung, silk, and high quality polyester matte satin. Christening gowns can also come in more simplistic, modern designs which are appropriate for the occasion but can offer more comfort for your child. Or if a gown does not suit your taste, high quality romper suits are a great alternative! They are appropriate attire for christenings and baptisms (especially for boys) and can be purchased in a wide range of styles and finishes. These suits can be designed to include shirts and ties and smartly made lower sections to create the look of a small suit which is perfect for an occasion such as this.

5. Finally, consider the time of year

You may also need to think about the time of year in which the event will be held. The temperature of the day will help determine what kind of material will be best in terms of its thickness and also the sleeve length of the christening gowns or suit. If you are looking to have short sleeves but are worried about the child becoming cold during the day, purchase a small cardigan which will help keep him warm and will also look very smart. The quality of the fabric is also important. This is an event where your child is the star, so it is important that he/she looks their best. One of the main ways to achieve this is to purchase good quality, beautifully made romper suits or christening gowns. By ensuring that the star of the day is comfortable, warm, and looking dashing, this special day is sure to run as smoothly as possible.

Christmas Cards and Their Beginnings

There were holiday cheer greetings in the 1400s, which people sent for New Years wishes that were printed on different paper like materials, and some linen as well.

In the first part of the 1800s, children would make Christmas well wishing cards to send to their parents. They used extra large sheets of fancy bordered paper to write their Christmas wishes, greetings and tell them about school within.

Parents would take this opportunity to see how far their children had come in their schooling and writing as well. Some would even draw pictures to include in their notes home.

Around this same era stationary sets that included envelopes matched to the accompanying paper took a peaked interest. These were especially popular with the ladies of the time to send invitations and other elegant correspondences

Christmas greeting cards that we are familiar with today did not make an appearance until the 1843 holiday Christmas celebration. They began being printed in this year.

Because of Sir Henry Cole we had the very first Christmas greeting cards. He really hated writing separate letters of best wishes, congratulations etc. To all members of his family and his acquaintances. A great friend was delegated to take care of this problem for him.

His picture of the perfect card included one detailed design with the same words on each one to be duplicated hundreds of times. This would make him free from writing all messages of the same thing himself to his growing lists of family and friends.

John Calcott Horsley was the creative friend that came up with well over 1,000 copies of the same card that he designed, colored by hand and then printed all by himself. These particular cards of Christmas tidings became known as the first of many greeting holiday cards that were then produced as commercial by Horsley.

As the postal service started to serve areas all over the world more and more people grew in the concept of sending their greetings and messages this way by cards that many people could receive but none had to be hand written. The company of Raphael Tuck & Son took this opportunity to get in on the people's wants of these cards and grew a very prosperous business.

The Royal Family, Queen Victoria in particular asked Mr. Tuck to design and print holiday cards for her Royal Family to send out at this joyous time of year to those they hold dear. Tuck & Sons lasted as a very booming business until the first half of the 20th century.

The only way Americans in the United States could purchase these delightfully designed cards was by import from one of two places, Great Britain or the European distributors, that is until it all changed in the year 1875.

A lithographer from Germany Mr. Louis Prang moved to Boston in the year of 1850 and had much experience in the printing processes. This helped him become a great designer of fabulous detailed cards for any and every occasion you could think of. These were now being sold commercially in the United States.

What made him stand out from the other printing card companies was his very new and innovative type of color process printing, which added detailed magnificent colors on all of his designs. If you needed Easter greetings, Thanksgiving blessings, Christmas tidings or congratulations you would find a card just right for you.

The Victorian era saw some of the most delicately detailed and beautiful cards to which none can compare to today. These were intricately designed to look as if they were painted by artistic hands which made them even that more special as collectibles as well today. You may get lucky and find some of these in your great-grandmothers attic or trunks or at antique shops or online auction sites as well.

This is just a small part of the history of the Christmas cards but a very important one. So when you choose your Christmas Greeting cards this year be sure to pay extra attention to their designs and their detailing find one that speaks to you.

Three Tips (You Didn't Already Know) For Creating Effective Employee Recognition Programs

It's hard to be involved in any HR discussion without hearing about how important good Employee Recognition Programs are to your bottom line. You already know that effective employee recognition programs motivate and retain your staff and you also know you need to motivate and retain your staff so that you can harness their ideas, solutions, and practices and grow your business.

You've likely also read lots of articles describing the do's and don'ts of creating great programs. And from those, you now know you need to ask your employees for their input when you create the programs and that your programs need to be fair, consistent and valued. None of that is a secret.

So here are three tips that you don't already know for creating an effective employee recognition program.

Tip 1: Recognition, like correction, needs to be given as soon as possible after the event. That's why I use the example of weekly get togethers when I'm explaining the motivational aspects of public praise. To be its most effective, praise needs to follow the desired behaviour as closely as possible. Don't let good ideas, positive actions, or outstanding customer service go unrecognized for months at a time because when you finally do offer up praise, no one will remember who did what or why. And they certainly won't be able to duplicate the behaviour. They'll have all moved on to the next project.

And on the topic of time, the get together for recognizing an employee needs to be short and sweet. Don't let these gatherings take up too much of your staff's valuable time. You don't want your recognition announcements to become an interruption instead of a reason to celebrate. Give praise often and quickly.

Tip 2: Don't overlap reward programs. Don't implement a Great Customer Service Award of the Week and Month and Quarter and Year and so on. First because, they'd be very difficult and expensive to administrate but also because the award becomes diluted and loses its perceived value. Also, is the winner of the monthly award "better" than the winner of the weekly award? That question could kill your attempts to boost morale and instill team spirit. You'll probably also find that the field of candidates for the monthly award is always the four people who won the weekly awards. This leaves no one else with a way to win the monthly award. That's not motivating.

For each behaviour that you want to encourage, offer one program and make the criteria for that program as easy and transparent to follow for everyone.

Tip 3: Simple is always better than complicated. The simpler the program is, the easier and less costly it will be to administrate. We've already touched on this in the previous tip about overlapping programs. An often used but potentially complicated program is the tiered award program. This type of program offers different levels of prize for different levels of success and is usually tied to sales quotas or lead generation goals etc. They can be very difficult to create meaningful criteria for and to monitor effectively. They can also put newer employees at a disadvantage from the onset because they just started with the company and already have to "catch up" to contend for any of the prizes.

Another sure-fire way to complicate your program is making your employees "sign up" to participate. If you're running a true competition to raise money for a cause for instance then yes, a sign up form is probably needed. An Employee Recognition Program though should be universal. Members of your staff shouldn't be able to opt out by not signing up.

These three tips, together with what you already know, will move you in the right direction for creating the best Employee Recognition Programs for your company.

Are Marcasite Jewelry Suited For My Lifestyle?

The sixty-four year period between 1837 to 1901 is known as the Victorian era, which period was marked by the ascension of a young Victoria to the throne of England. This was a period of great romance, epic tragedies (especially with the death of Victoria's husband Prince Albert in 1861) and unparalleled prosperity.

Jewelry styles of the era fell into three broad classes: the Romantic period (1837 to 1860) which was marked by jewelry with complex engravings, subtle enamel work and serpentine designs; the Grand Period (1861 to 1888) which coincided with Victoria's bereavement and so was marked by jewelry reflecting dark, somber themes; and the Late Victorian period (1889 to 1901) where diamonds ruled and jewelry pieces were decidedly whimsical and spectacular.

Soon after Queen Victoria's death, there's a brief period of alter within jewelry style, known as the Art Noveau - marked by jewelry inspired naturally and themes mythological in origin - and also Edwardian period characterized by jewelry of airy lightness and awesome elegance reflective of British aristocracy and wealthy American industrialists.

The styles of the era - marked by plenty of small but brilliant stones (especially during the Late Victorian era and also Art Noveau/Edwardian period) inlaid in silver along with other precious metals - are going through a revival today. Modern Victorian-era inspired jewelry, however, are making use of a mineral called marcasite or white pyrite instead of the usual stones. Marcasite (occasionally known as white pyrite or white iron pyrite) are actually pyrite crystals that are made into jewelry.

Besides, the variety of this jewelry ranging from earrings, lockets, watches, rings yet others have caused this type of jewelry become a choice of most people. Additional factors which boost the popularity of this jewelry are generally stunning design and uniqueness. It is produced from the combination of silver and marcasite (white iron pyrite). This is absolutely different from usual silver jewelry on the market.

It's sure the best choice if you want to out-stand from the crowd of folks that wearing jewelry. You will find four things describe with this jewelry. Classy, exquisite, beautiful and fashionable. It is sure will look great on you for no matter what occasion you will attend to.

Marcasite Earrings:

This type of marcasite jewelry is suited well to use it daily whether you are occasionally or simply for daily life. Marcasite earrings can be put into two categories that are stud and long drop. Stud marcasite earrings are suited to both occasion and daily life. However it depends on the kind of stud marcasite earrings that you choose.

Typical stud marcasite earrings without gem stone are the best choice for daily usage and casual fashion. At the same time, a long drop earring is much more suited to formal event and celebrations because it tends to swing front and back whilst you move. The moments your long drop earring swing, you will look elegant and gorgeous. Long drop earrings with gem are appearing more stylish and shine.

Marcasite Rings:

We had seen lots of styles on this marcasite jewelry before. Not either one might make me fall in love. However lately, the designers have come up with slim width of rings. Have this grabbed my attention? Yes for a lot of it. For me, it is weird for having the broad ring. The kind of ring which i like the most could be the plain one with black onyx or some other gems. Your choice may differ from mine. As long as you like it, it doesn't matter what other people say. So, pick the right choice.

Marcasite Watches:

Precisely what makes this type of marcasite jewelry more advanced than others within the same class? If you look at its design, the difference is on the band. With many designs of bands, you may be blind to decide on which one you need to buy. The curly band, the straight band, the band with many chains or even the plain and tiny band. So, which one would you like to choose? Actually a number of them included with gem stone.

It's stunning. Marcasite wrist watches are not only found for women but you will find for men too. Watches for men are not the same as women watches. The bands are often broad and silver color which can be normal and ideal for men.

Marcasite Pendants, Lockets and Necklaces:

This is a form of marcasite jewelry that you must own or make it as your own collection. New gorgeous designs are come up everyday which makes me 'crazy'! For your information, I'm a lover of locket, pendant or necklace. I'm good without wrist watches and rings but I am dying without earring and pendant, locket or necklace. Just imagine that you're wearing a gown or blouse with out those jewelries. You might look empty.

You will find many marcasite pendants, lockets or necklaces on the online retailers. For me, this kind of jewelry can be put into two categories just like marcasite earring. I may only buy a locket which will be only for special events because I feel not comfortable when wearing it daily. A pendant will be my option for daily jewelry. Which one is more beautiful? Individually, I choose pendants. What about you? Marcasite necklace is in the same category as marcasite pendant.

Great things about Marcasite Jewelry

1. Affordable. Who doesn't want cheap stuffs should they be good. Even though it's cheap, it does not mean that the product quality is low.

2. Beautiful. This simply cannot be denied by anyone. I currently falled in love to the marcasite jewelry at the first time my boyfriend gave me a marcasite earring as birthday present. And I believed it was pricey due to the beauties it has.

3. Uniqueness. Nearly all of expensive silver jewelries provide the similar styles. Even so, I can see the difference in the design of marcasite jewelry.

4. Quality. And this lots of people think when purchasing any types of jewelries. If marcasite jewelry is low in quality, I am sure there will be a headline in papers or weblogs mentioned that this kind of jewelry is not really worth to own.

5. Fantastic gift idea. Exactly why? With all the inexpensive price plus the beauties, uniqueness and quality, why definitely not marcasite jewelry become a present for someone special to you for special occasions ans events such as Birthdays, Wedding anniversaries, Valentine Day, Christmas or maybe Easter. Or why not simply treat yourself?

And so, this is time for you to own marcasite jewelry. Which one could be your choice? I by myself already have a listing to buy. I am better with this type of jewelry than buying other jewelries that may be thought to be waste. It is time for you to choose.

Lotus Elise 1600 CC

The New Lotus Elise 1.6

- Lotus have launched an new entry level, face lifted Elise. Designed to be frugal with a planet saving ethos.

What happens when your dream car is about as much a reality as bumping into Lady Ga Ga in Tescos? Well it just becomes something you think about when you feel you need to escape the boundaries of your every day life. Not a bad a thing I guess, it gives us all goals and a place to aim.

Now let me ask another question. What if your dream car could actually become a part of your lifestyle? without you having to sell your organs. And no Lady Ga Ga won't be a part of this. Sports cars are designed to be lusted after, to be sexy and admired with their sweeping curves, powerful engines and exclusive price tags. On the subject of change, sports cars and the word 'affordable' don't tend to go in the same sentence, unless we're talking about old classics.

I'm not talking about a rusty old MGB but still an iconic British sportscar. The Lotus Elise. Now in its 15th. year of production the titchy fibre glass sports car offers an eco alternative to its pedigree of superb handling, race breed roadsters. The Lotus is made in Norwich, the same place as Turnips and Mustard.

This is the new entry level Elise, powered by its smallest engine yet. A 1.6 litre Toyota unit, coupled with a new 6 speed gearbox. This car is all about economy and at £27,000 offers supercar looks for sales rep saloon money. Now for the part that appeals to me. 56 mpg is impressive and must be considered a huge attraction with its 500 mile range. The team at Lotus have nick named this car the 149 due to its low emission output of 149g of Co2 per Km. I just think it's a nice way of saying 'yes we have the worlds most eco friendly petrol powered sports car. With the confidence of a reliable Japanese powerplant the Elise is kind of in its little world. Of course there are rival brands and models to consider but all of these lack the little Lotus's charm, lines and stunning drive. Don't think that the small engine makes the Lotus experience any less either. It doesn't. It will reach 60 mph in just 6 seconds and is capable of making you grin with ease. This new Elise handles, grips and snoggs the road like a teenage love affair, you could almost forgive yourself to think that winding roads and bends were designed 100 years ago as these industrial pioneers knew that someday a car would be built to drive around them without almost flat out.

However as much as I love this car, I feel I must say that it's not perfect. The indicator stalks are still sourced from the Vauxhall Senator parts bin which I feel could at least have used the Ford set up from the Lotus Evora or why not a nice set of their own? I understand that this car is all about economy but if you close your eyes and fire the engine up you would think you are in a Toyota Avensis, one of the dullest machines on the road. Such a disappointing engine sound, however this changes when you drive the Elise. Once taken past a certain engine rev limit a second camshaft opens up, producing a much satisfying deeper engine tone whilst aiding the power. I can't winge about the boring engine sound on this new Elise, if they had added a sporty exhaust system then the emissions would have been higher and thus taking the whole point away of this car. If you want that then get the next model up or better still an Evora if you have the money. The Elise is a car for anyone, it's at home in a supermarket car park as it would be with a WAG. Qwerky, iconic and owned by many celebrities including Jay Lo, Jennifer Lopez or what ever she wants to call herself. Oh and one other thing.. dead flies on the windscreen. Both of which will put everyone off wanting to buy a Lotus Elise. Not bad if that's all I can find to moan about.

This new Elise has been subtly tweeked. At the rear a deeper defuser aid the exciting airflow reducing drag while at the front a similar thing, although you wouldn't really know it. Lotus has always been about weight saving rather than monstrous amounts of power and this Elise is still true, weighing in at just 876 kg. This is not a car for those that want to drive flat out everywhere. It's a great touring car with this engine. Capable of keeping up but definitely not that quick. But once again I don't need to state that, this Elise is what it is. A low powered Lotus that won't get you into trouble unless you slap its face and make it angry. I am definitely of the opinion that this car, as with any little Lotus is not just a car but more of a part of you and should be described as a being rather than an object. You don't drive an Elise, you wear it like a well fitting shoe.

This car is two cars in one. Its low power means that its safe for even the most novice of drivers to handle while still retaining enough poke once pushed to waken the little car into a torrent of excitement. So who's going to buy the new 1600 cc Elise? I think those that want to own an environmentally considerate sports car. After all the Lotus will never rust so you won't need to replace it. It's bonded aluminum chassis and fibre glass coach work keep the rust factor away. Thankfully all the issues of the previous Elise's now behind, mainly the old Rover K series engined cars which went through head gaskets like no tomorrow.

With new models in the pipeline and the stunning new Evora, these are exciting times for Lotus as the company is starting to thrive once again. I'm sure you'll agree that it's great to see a British Automotive manufacturer doing well and ultimately producing a product you want. Open your eyes, wake up from your dream, your car is here!

Internet Marketing Traffic Series - How to Use Article Marketing to Boost Your Traffic

When it comes to building a successful online business, one thing stands out over everything else as the 'make or break' business feature: Traffic.

The number of people you have coming to your site determines your earning potential. Lots of people equals lots of potential income. Only a few visitors per day means only a little potential income.

I want to share with you the way that virtually every successful marketer uses to generate quick and free traffic to their sites: Article marketing.

You see, there is a constant stream of people in your market (and I mean this for every market out there) looking for information on how to accomplish certain things. For example, in the beauty niche, it may be 'how to get that celebrity look this summer'.

Whatever it is, if you're able to provide that (or better still if you have a product that provides that) then write an article that tells people how to solve their issue. Then let them know at the end of the article (in the resource box) how they can find out even more. This is where you put your link to your site or product.

Placing a link in your resource box has two effects on your business. The first is that you can easily get several people who read each article to click the link and get to your site. The other benefit is if you make your keywords into a link like this:

<a target="_new" rel="nofollow" href="http://www.YOURWEBSITE.com">YOUR KEYWORDS</a>

This will give you a valuable backlink to your site and Google will associate the words you use as keywords with your site. The more of these links you have, the more Google will value you within that market. Simple!

Keeping the tweets varied can help bring even more attention. Users are constantly overwhelmed with product reminders or self promotion, the key is to find the perfect balance. The balance between gaining interest and website promotion can be tricky. If the only information available is about the site, users are likely to be turned off. Instead add interesting personal stories, ask questions and prompt discussions. One of the best ways to increase your website ranking is to show that your website is not just about business, it is also personal.

Live the Good Life in a Luxury Home

We all dream of living in a luxury home. After all, our favorite celebrities live in mansions and owning a luxury property is the perfect way to show the world that you have finally "made it." But, what exactly is found in a high end property and what sets it apart from other homes? While the feature that are found in luxury homes are just as varied as the people who live in them, here is a look at some of the most popular trends in today's high end market.

#1: Cozying Up to a Fireplace - in the Bathroom

While a growing number of homes are including a fireplace in the living room or den, one of the trends in luxury homes is to add a fireplace to the bathroom. Since luxury homes tend to have very large bathrooms, there is plenty of space for a fireplace next to the bath. Not only does it look attractive, it also creates a nice, cozy atmosphere when relaxing in the tub.

#2: Heading to the Great Outdoors

Many homeowners are choosing to create an outdoor kitchen or other outdoor living space, but luxury houses take the outdoor kitchen to the extreme. In fact, the outdoor kitchens found in luxury homes tend to have all of the great amenities that most homeowners only dream of having in their indoor kitchen. For example, the outdoor kitchens may feature granite countertops and stainless steel ovens, ranges, sinks and refrigerators. The outdoor kitchens of luxury homes are also typically located near to other amenities that are ideal for entertaining, such as gazebos and swimming pools.

#3: Making Your Home Smart

While it is not unusual for a home to have security system, luxury homes usually have Smart Home Sensors. Smart Home Sensors are connected to a computer that automatically takes certain actions depending upon the command that is provided. With just the press of a button, the home will automatically lock the home's doors and windows when leaving or when going to bed at night.

#4: Move Your Walls

With the help of movable walls, the owners of luxury houses can easily transform two smaller rooms into one larger room. Of course, when these walls are in place, no one would ever be able to guess that they are movable because they are creatively disguised in the form of bookcases or other natural-looking devices. When it comes time to entertain large groups of people, the wall can be easily moved with just the push of a button. When it's time to make things a bit cozier or when separate rooms are needed, such as a playroom for the kids or a private den for studying, the wall can be put right back into place.

#5: Bring the Party Home

As might be expected of those who live in luxury properties, opportunities for entertainment are taken whenever possible. As such, many luxury homes feature large, custom wine cellars. In fact, it is not uncommon for the wine cellar in a luxury home to be larger than the bedrooms found in a more traditional home. Of course, rooms for entertaining are typically located next to these cellars.

A Crown Hand Pallet Truck - One of the Best in the Market

Crown hand pallet trucks are some of the best on the market. The company manufactures a large amount of trucks and amongst the various industries that use them, such as retailers, warehouses, dairies, farms, shipyards, and more, Crown hand pallet trucks are one of the preferred brands.

Man has had to find many ways of moving heavy objects throughout the ages. When the pallet truck was invented it literally revolutionized so many things. Unpacking a box car, which used to take three days in the 30's, now can take less then four hours. This is a clear sign of how we've progressed.

They come in many shapes, sizes and materials to suit all types of environment, Galvanized steel, stainless steel, aluminum, special alloys, zinc plated ones or many more materials are used to make these trucks.

As far as types go, there are also many to choose from. You can get printers pallet trucks which include a weighting mechanism which allows you to weight goods and then print out the weight, or other specifications.

You can also get scissor pallet trucks which use a lifting mechanism that allows you to lift goods and pallets into higher areas. When you need to stack things on higher shelves, because space is limited in the warehouse or any other factors, then these types of material handling trucks are useful. Especially if the warehouse doesn't have space for a forklift or larger material handling trucks (or your budget doesn't either). Because they can go so high and can maneuver so well they are also very helpful when taking goods off of a truck or van.

Most of them are called "walk behind" trucks, which basically refers to the fact that you have to push them from behind. They usually have a hydraulic system that is either manually pumped or pumped by some sort of electromotor. The latter are usually referred to as powered pallet trucks.

A safety 'dead man' switch is put into the handle which allows the motor to be turned off when the pallet truck is not being used. This is a very necessary safety precaution. Generally your powered pallet trucks are more safer to use, but there are a few disadvantages in that they cannot handle as heavy a load.

Crown has received many awards for its models of pallet lift trucks including an Industrial Designers' Society of America (IDSA) award for its PE 4000 series.

The Crown PTH 500 series is one of the most celebrated material handling trucks on the market. Years after it was first introduced it is still highly sought after. It's ability to handle heavy and bulky goods, and the fact that it doesn't need to be maintained in a great degree, make it a perfect tool for many types of businesses.

There are many features to the PTH 500 which have made it so popular. Of all the Crown hand pallet trucks, it's definitely one of the models to be looking at first.

Organizing Systems to Get Rid of Your Clutter

Organizing systems to get rid of your clutter are essential to clutter free success. Getting clutter out of your home quickly eliminates second guessing your decisions and stops the clutter from drifting back into your home. Organizing the clutter you want to sell or give away and making a plan invites you to take action. Here are six categories of clutter and the systems you need to get them out of your life forever.

The first and perhaps the biggest category of clutter seems like a no brainer but it is all the stuff that needs to be thrown away. You may need a large garbage bag for any items that are broken, damaged, moldy, shabby, or outgrown. Organizing a large garbage pick up, having a friend help with disposal or hiring a tip are all options to remove this stuff immediately.

The next category is give away. You may have items that are too good to throw away and may know of a charity or a friend that would really appreciate second hand goods. Items such as good condition clothes and toys, books, home wares and items you never use are good choices for give away. Decide who would benefit from these gifts, bag them and deliver them as soon as possible. If you don't use it or love it let it go and make someone else happy.

The third category of clutter are the things that need a home. A lot of these items are used and loved but need better storage. Use labeled baskets or boxes to create designated places for things while you figure out your storage options or declutter some more.

The fourth category of clutter is repairs. This can include clothing, electrical gadgets, garden tools and games. Getting repairs done takes time and money. If you are not willing to do this put the item in the garbage bag. Tag each item with the estimated cost and time and make a list and decide what you are willing to do. Be realistic if you are not going to fix it throw it out.

The fifth category is selling. Do you have any items that would bring you some money? Get some friends together for a large garage sale and a social occasion. Set a date, make some signs and celebrate your clutter free success. Look in the phone book for second hand clothing shops, vintage stores or book sellers that will sell your pre-loved things for a commission. E-bay can be a good choice but you may have to factor in a learning curve for the systems and be prepared to mail things.

The sixth category is your maybe/emotional dilemma box. Sometimes this is a good place to put gifts you feel guilty about getting rid of, items you have spent a lot of money on and things you just are not sure about. This gives you a cooling off period. Make sure you reassess the item in a few weeks and decide to keep or let go.

Plan your exit strategy for your clutter and get it out of your home as quickly as possible for clutter free success.

Enrich Your Life by Becoming an Executive Host Family

When I was 14 years old, I left Bolton to travel alone for the first time to live with a French family in Le Mans, Bolton's twin town, for 2 weeks over the Easter holidays. After an 8 hour journey our coach full of assorted Bolton secondary school kids arrived, slightly dishevelled but chattering with excitement, at the Town Hall in Le Mans. I just about managed to say "Bonjour! Je suis Peter" as I was pushed in the direction of a bemused looking French family who then confused me by shaking my hand one by one. The dad held up a small toddler, pushing him towards me. My mind raced as I evaluated the most appropriate response, finally opting to shake his hand, too, and repeated my French language mantra. During the car journey back to their town centre apartment I managed to make an unintelligent stab at their rapidly delivered questions, falling back on randomly selected "Oui"s and "Non"s in response. God knows what impression I'd already created by the time we got out of the big Citroen car a demie heure plus tard! With a low hiss, the car settled back down on its suspension as we all walked to the lift. As I sat on my bed in my new bedroom in Le Mans I contemplated what challenges lay ahead. My head already hurt as I desperately tried to recall everything my French teacher had tried to teach me. I was thirsty and so pondered:

"J'ai soif" or is it "Je suis soif"?

After 20 minutes I braced myself and thought of England and bravely strode into the lounge to try my luck. I was too thirsty to let grammatical inaccuracy keep me from essential rehydration a moment longer. And so began my first experience of being a guest in a foreign person's home, being totally reliant for my social survival on my ability to speak a foreign language. Adrenalin, my inherent inability to remain quiet for long and various bodily needs and functions all conspired to make me embark on what linguists would describe as an "explosion of language learning". I made friends for life and was propelled from bottom of the class in French to the top set for my year, going on to get an A grade in my O Level! Later on in life I would repeat the experience on a three month long EU working exchange to Trento in northern Italy.

Hosting foreign students whilst they are in the UK can be such a rewarding experience for all the family, and so I wanted to share the benefits with you so that you might consider becoming involved as family yourselves. Should the idea of welcoming a foreign student in to your home appeal to you and your family, a good starting point is to contact your nearest British Council accredited English language school in your area and arrange to speak to the Home Stay Co-ordinator. They should be able to visit you in your home to explain how the scheme works and even put you in contact with some of their most experienced hosts so you can talk it through with them, too. However, in the meantime please see our top 5 tips for stress free hosting below:

1. Give 'em some space!

Don't let your curiosity and willingness to appear friendly and welcoming frighten your visitor to death! As a foreign visitor to someone's home you do have a duty to fit in with your host family's routine. However, you can very quickly feel like a circus animal if paraded around the neighbourhood immediately after arrival. Of course Auntie Madge and Jack at number 11 are dying to see what a Japanese man looks like in the flesh, but spare a thought for the poor chap who's just got off an overnight west east over nighter!

2. Set out your stall early on

Of course it's strange at first having a foreign guest living in your house, but agreeing a few simple rules from the moment you welcome your guest inside, will stand you in good stead. A good place to start is the bathroom! Think through how you and the family normally get up and get ready to leave the house on a working day. Talk this through with every member of the household in advance? Then you can your guest hogging the bathroom at peak times. It's probably also worth asking your guest not to use your phone to call home. Most international students will be sensitive to this and will come ready prepared with an international phone card allowing them to make calls home without you incurring any extra cost.

3. Don't take it personally

Spending time with a foreign visitor is a fascinating and enriching experience, mainly as you get to see and evaluate our own British way of life through the eyes of a foreigner. Why do we have just two choices of tap: one producing scalding hot water, the other ice cold? Most foreigners will be used to having a mixer tap rather than using the plug in the sink. It might come as a shock to students from some countries that we switch off our central heating during the night. Another one is pets. The British are unique in Europe when it comes to keeping animals in the house. Don't be offended when your guest points out these things, it's natural to find some differences bemusing, even annoying, especially if you are already fatigued from struggling to learn English all day long.

4. Celebrate cultural differences, they make language learning a laugh

If it were just as simple as learning a new language, life would be so easy. However, inextricably linked to language learning is culture. But how dull would life be without these differences? Did you know that a Japanese female will be too ashamed to hand over her smalls for the laundry each week? So save her the hassle and give her a pillow case to put them all in then you can assure her that you will wash them all in this and return them to her in it afterwards!

5. Don't forget, you've always got back up - you're not on your own

It's so important to remember that the Host Family co-ordinator from your local language school is there to help you. Never hesitate to pick up the phone if there is anything that gives you concern or is starting to make you feel uncomfortable. These things can be quickly and easily resolved by an experienced practitioner. It's also a good idea to work with an English language school happy to place short stay students with you (just 1 or 2 weeks) whilst you and the family get used to the idea. Also, a good school will be happy for you to host as and when it suits you, allowing you to have time at home without guests before you host again.

In summary, hosting foreign language students is a fun, rewarding and enriching experience for the whole family. Most hosts form genuine lasting friendships with their short stay guests, getting invited to their country on holiday and to important family events giving you and the family a unique behind the scenes glimpse at another cultural in an interesting part of the world. Finally, it's also worth keeping in mind that schools pay their hosts on average £100.00 / student / week and up to £150.00 / week should you be able to offer a room plus a private bathroom!

What Are the Top 10 Best Selling Gemstones For Jewelry?

Gemstone jewelry has become very popular in recent years amongst fashionistas and collectors alike. In fact, some gems are so rare, that they are extremely hard to come by. This is partly due to demand and knowing that adding a piece (or two) of hand crafted gem jewelry instantly adds style and glamour to any wardrobe. With so many gems to choose from, it is sometimes hard to figure out which ones are the most sought after. If you look in any fashion magazine at what your favorite celebrities are wearing, you'll find an array of semi precious gemstone jewelry adorning their earlobes, wrists and necklines. Which gems are the most popular, you ask?

Well, there a quite a few that are pretty popular, but the latest trends in gemstone jewelry suggest that the top 10 best selling gemstones are:

· Topaz

· Turquoise

· Tiger's Eye

· Onyx

· Peridot

· Citrine

· Quartz

· Sapphire

· Aquamarine

· Tanzanite

Because these semi-precious gemstones are so versatile, they can be easily combined with precious metals such as silver or gold - or plated metals to create the most amazing jewelry pieces. From very simple, classic styles, to bold eye -catching, one of a kind pieces, the possibilities with precious metals or base metals crafted with gemstone jewelry truly are endless. One of my personal favorite combinations is turquoise enhanced with or encased in sterling silver, which can work in just about any wardrobe. This combination has a true southwestern feel, yet can be combined with a variety of colors for instant style. Also, turquoise jewelry goes great with coral, onyx and even white lapis. The possibilities truly are endless. And because gems are so versatile, they can be worn during the day or at night, dressed up or down.

Adding natural gemstone jewelry to your existing jewelry wardrobe is an instant way to add a pop of color and glam up any outfit. And, it is so versatile! Gem jewelry goes with everything from denim to maxi dresses or even a skirt or suit. The only limits are your imagination and creativity. So, the next time you're looking for that little something extra, add a statement necklace made of semi-precious gems or a couple of gem bracelets for that extra special effect.

Gemstone jewelry is truly unique in that you can combine different gems to create one of kind pieces that will last a lifetime.

Rika Ohara - At Home, In-Between

1980 marks the year of Rika Ohara's arrival in the U.S. from her native Japan.  At eighteen, she left the place that had been her home to pursue what would become a prolific career in the arts, unfolding and taking shape in all kinds of graceful, messy, and unexpected ways.

Recalling our February interview, the parts of our conversation that pop out in my memory are Ohara's reflections on place, home, art, and identity.  I had read that Rika's mother and grandmother had lost their homes to air raids three times during WWII.  I grappled with comprehending a loss of that magnitude, much in the way I grapple, and identify, with the content of Rika's work.  I couldn't help but hear Rika's life stories through the framework of her family history outside of Tokyo, even as our project has tended to focus more on how artists struggle and succeed in Los Angeles.

Certainly Rika talked about her life as an artist in Los Angeles, but those questions we sometimes ask about the "L.A. art scene" seemed half-way irrelevant, partially because Rika doesn't proscribe to any kind of L.A. art scene.  Rika Ohara stands alone.  She is funny, politically astute, skeptical of "multiculturalism," and unconcerned with celebrity.

Rika is a dozen artists in one, at home in the digital landscape, low budget high tech films, political performance, dance, painting, writing, music: you name it.  And because of this, I wondered if she could talk to us about finding her art in-between categories.  We ended our conversation talking about the idea of home, where Rika's experiences in Japan, Europe, and the U.S. have surely informed her art.  "You know, how we define home, it's always a question.  Where you are, and what you do here...but then after all it's kind of incidental, isn't it, home."  She tells us that the feeling of homelessness is something she has always carried inside of her, and that the in-between space is where she often creates her art.  She shared that ideas for her work have come to her in-between sleep and consciousness, curled up in the backseat of a driving car, or on an airplane mid-flight.

"Maybe I've never really tried to define home," she laughs, "I kind of like this idea of being in-between, in-between countries and cultures, and not just in a sense of cultures, borders, nationalities, but I've always felt the in-between space being a painter, dancer, performance artist, video artist....it's kind of like what am I?  But hey, that's the only way I can be."

We filmed and interviewed Rika in her garden at her "home" in Silverlake.  Rika will unabashedly confess that she often has no idea what city she lives in and that she often thinks of leaving.  "As long as I'm here in my garden, I can pretend it's not L.A., it's not California, it's not the U.S."  Ohara in part represents the ambivalence of place that a lot of Angelenos experience, and also what a lot of immigrants experience, with the heart suspended in-between cultures, landscapes, and countries.  But there is nothing tragic about this kind of in-between.  On the contrary, Rika Ohara exemplifies the possibilities that emerge from the in-between.

For a moment we thought we were watching Ant and Dec presenting I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, but no; it was our new Premier, David Cameron, with his debonair sidekick, Nick Clegg. The first impression they created, as they joshed and joked in the spring sunshine, was how perfectly compatible they are. Of similar age and appearance, they even appear to share the same sense of humour. "Do you still think Nick Clegg is your favourite joke?" one sharp reporter asked of Cameron, and the two fell about laughing.

Whether this fascinating and appealing duo will work well for the prospects of the UK remains to be seen, but everyone, including the markets, seemed impressed. Even as one of Gordon Brown's few loyal fans, I felt myself being swept along by the emotional tide of hope that the 2Cs generated. But I fear as the reality of power and the problems of the deficit come to the fore, the engine that is UK PLC may need more than a couple of CCs of fizz to get it going. We wait with anticipation to see if there is any substance behind the frolic.

How will the relationship cope when it comes to budget cuts, tax increases and electoral reform? All the doom mongers are warning of a period of austerity round the corner. The five year fixed term of the parliament will give the lads time to tinker, but what if it is beyond even their astounding powers of management?

But why put a downer on what has been a mesmerising weekend of intrigue and delight, better than any TV thriller, with more twists and turns than an Agatha Christie? Britain has received and enjoyed a much needed boost to its opinion of politics. We had it all - a Prime Minister teetering on the edge, the new boys scheming behind his back, the reporters on the green in front of Westminster with the requisite banners of protestation behind and all the while, a dignified, patient and ever so royal Queen waiting patiently at the Palace to receive her new Premier. It was all so English and fine.

But the final irony is that while the real winner in this weekend's shenanigans was the British Constitution and its immaculately engineered workings, so slick it gave one a stab of pride, the new incumbents of Number 10 (does Clegg get the spare room at the back?) are about to embark on radical and unforeseen changes to the very electoral machine which got them there in the first place! Life can be cruel for age old institutions!

Food is Not Your God Anymore

Reductil... What Really Works

Mechanisms for regulating food intake are still not clearly established. That the hypothalamus plays a part in these mechanisms, however, seems certain. Numerous studies seem to indicate that a cluster of neurons in the lateral hypothalamus function as an appetite center (meaning that impulses from them bring about increased appetite). Other data suggest that a group of neurons in the ventral medial nucleus of the hypothalamus functions as a satiety center (meaning that impulses from these neurons decrease appetite so that we feel sated, or satisfied. What acts directly on these centers to stimulate or depress them is still a matter of theory rather than a fact.

One theory (the thermostat theory) holds that it is the temperature of the blood circulating to the hypothalamus that influences the centers. A moderate decrease in blood temperature stimulates the appetite center (and inhibits the satiety center). Result: the individual has an appetite, wants to eat, and probably does. An increase in blood temperature produces the opposite effect, a depressed appetite (anorexia). One well-known instance of this is the loss of appetite in persons who have a fever.

Another theory (the glucostat theory) says that it is the glucose concentration and rate of glucose use that influences the hypothalamic feeding centers. A low blood glucose concentration and rate of glucose use stimulates the appetite center, whereas high blood glucose concentration inhibits it. The use of (Reductil) as a drug for weight loss is highly linked to the body's own appetite control mechanisms, where it suppresses appetite an stimulates the body to use its own energy resources.

The active ingredient of (Reductil) is sibutramine. Sibutramine was originally developed as an antidepressant (fights depression), and it exerts its effect by helping two other substances: noradrenaline and serotonin stay as long as possible in the brain. Noradrenaline is the hormone of stress. It gushes through our blood at times of fight or fear moments to help us use all our bodily capabilities to either fight or run away from the stress at hand. I don't think anyone who might be reading that article ever had the desire to eat when faced by any threat. Serotonin is a local hormone that controls the release of another local hormone called leptin whose receptors are in the brain and their activation by leptin inhibits impulses that increase appetite, and stimulates impulses that decrease appetite.

This drug is rapidly absorbed from the gut, and it is extensively metabolized (broken down) in the liver, and its resulting substances have a half life (time for the body to breakdown half of the substance) is 14 - 16 hours, and is responsible for its effects. That's why (Reductil) should be taken early in the morning, so that it doesn't make you awake and disturb your sleeping time, especially on the first day of taking the drug.

(Reductil) shouldn't be taken carelessly by patients. It should be prescribed only for people with Body Mass Index (BMI) of 27 or more who have other heart or blood vessel risk factors, or 30 or more in their absence. It should be stopped if weight lost after 3 months is less than 5% of the initial weight. It should be stopped also if weight lost stabilizes at less than 5% of the initial weight thereafter (despite increase in concentration of Reductil), or if users regain more than 3 kg after previous weight loss. It should not be given for more than 1 year.

If one want to calculate one's own BMI, Divide your weight in kilograms by the square of your height in meters. So for example, if your weight is 115 kg, and your height is 180 centimeters (i.e. 1.8 meters), so your BMI can be calculated as 115/(1.8)2 = 115/3.24 = 35.4, so, if you have no other contraindications to use (Reductil), you'll definitely be able to use it.

Being part of the antidepressant family, (Reductil) is not the drug which you might be drinking alcohol during its course of treatment, because both will exert a depressing effect on brain function. So try to be more conservative at birthday parties or celebrations please. The dose of (My Reductil) is 10-15 mg per day by mouth.

One of the most reported side effects experienced by users of (Reductil), and which - at the same time - are self-limited with continued use or - sometimes - symptomatic treatment, is lack of sleep especially in the first night or two of taking (Reductil), and the best way to handle that is by taking the pill very early in the morning.

Another very popular side effect, dry mouth, which occurs in more than 10% of users, but it's nothing to worry about. It may require the user to consume 2-3 litres of water a day, and always carry an extra bottle of water around, but to look at it from another optimistic view, drinking a lot of water daily actually fills the stomach and decreases appetite, so it's helpful anyway.

There is a famous forum on Yahoo about how good (Reductil) is as an anti-obesity drug. I've been to that forum reading people's feedback on that drug, and how it really helped most of them with their weight loss battles. Here are some of the remarkable quotes people said after sing that drug: "With My Reductil, I just have no interest in food." One guy with inactive thyroid gland said: "Reductil is the only thing that helped me." Another one quoted: "My Reductil stops you needing to eat. It gets rid of the hunger, but willpower needs to be strong." A last one: "Food is not my God anymore."

There is also one last relation between (Reductil), blood pressure and headache. That relation needs to be understood by patients in order not to be confused to the extent of quitting treatment for no reason. As I notified earlier, (Reductil) depends on noradrenaline and serotonin inside the brain to do what it does. As all would know, noradrenaline narrows blood vessels everywhere in the body which contributes to raising the blood pressure a little, while serotonin, dilates blood vessels, and in the brain, may cause the headaches that (My Reductil) users may experience especially on the first days of treatment. The point is: Don't just quit (My Reductil) if your blood pressure rises a little bit. You can stop it if the rise in blood pressure is severe (more than 180/110), so that's why doctors recommend that (Reductil) users should check their blood pressure closely throughout its use (twice weekly during the first 3 months). You shouldn't worry much about the headache because it goes away later, and as far as your blood pressure is fine, take a panadol or something or the headache and life will go on.

In fact, you should benefit from the 3 months that you start your (Reductil) in, and not rush losing weight too fast. Losing weight so fast may let you get saggy skin, or let your kidney fall off inside your abdomen due to quick loss of the fat pad attaching it to the wall of the abdomen, so those first 3 months should be used by you wisely. The first month is all about surviving the changes that taking (Reductil) will have on your life. The second month should be all about trying to establish an eating pattern. The third month should be all about introducing a more extensive exercise program.

The last thing to be mentioned here is that (Reductil) should not be used in (severe) increase in blood pressure. It should not be used at all with peripheral occlusive arterial or coronary heart disease, arrhythmias, enlarged prostate condition, and in severe liver or kidney disease. It shouldn't also be used to treat obesity of endocrine origin, or those with a major eating disorder or a psychiatric disease. It also shouldn't be taken together with a tricyclic antidepressant, because both may lead to central nervous system toxicity.

6 Creative Ways to Promote Your Business

The use of brand names, logos and motifs has become an accepted way to promote business. Perhaps yours is a small business or non profit organisation with a limited budget. All that's needed is something different to catch the eye of the public. Be creative with your next promotional campaign by using some of these ideas and find an online printer that offers a booklet and flyer printing service.

Raffles - are a great way to promote your business and an accepted form of fundraising for charitable organisation. A successful raffle campaign could start with the following steps:

ïEUR Find a worthy cause - your local school, library or community group may be in need of assistance. Approach the committees and discuss your ideas.

Find sponsors - ring around the businesses in your area. You will be pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to invoke community spirit if you have the right cause.

ïEUR Raffle books printed - once the prizes have been guaranteed you can take the steps to get the raffle books printed. If you don't have a local printer that wants to support your effort there are great deals offered from online printers.

ïEUR Distribute raffle books - call on friends, family and staff members to take books home to sell. Approach local businesses and schools but remember to keep some aside to have handy at the shop counter.

Celebrate the day when you announce the prize winners - have flyers printed so people know at a glance about your raffle and when it will be drawn. Combine this day with a product sale or use it as a way to draw attention to your store.

Flyers - can be used for sales or special promotions. They are a cheaper alternative to brochure printing and can be distributed in letter boxes throughout the neighbourhood or left at various shops and businesses around town.

Promotion is all about telling the public about your products or services. A simple flyer may be all you need to give your business a lift.

Brochures - when you have a lot to promote, perhaps an end of season sale for instance go that extra mile and have some brochures printed. Brochure printing works best for getting your business noticed if they are produced in colour.

Posters - for your window front are a great way to publicise your business twenty four hours a day. This takes the advertising from inside your shop front so that people notice you outside of business hours as they walk past your shop. Poster printing can be quite inexpensive when used in conjunction with other printing jobs.

Stickers - think of a catchy slogan and hand out stickers with your logo or brand name every time you make a sale. Car bumper stickers give additional exposure. We can all attest to waiting at the lights and reading those slogans on the back of those cars in front.

Calendars - don't limit calendars for January to December. Financial year calendars can be useful for businesses too and make a nice gift while advertising that mid year or 30 June stock clearance sale. Post these to your valued customers or keep them handy at the counter to hand out with any of those larger sales.

The opportunities available for successfully promoting your business are within easy reach. A bit of thought and planning or maybe some brain storming with staff members and in next to no time your promotional campaign may well be set for the year ahead.

Yogi Berra, New York Yankee

Everybody loves Yogi Berra, if not for all his dedicated years as a professional baseball player and manager, then his command of the English language and unique delivery of it. Born May 12, 1925 in St. Louis, Missouri, Laurence Peter Berra grew up in an Italian neighborhood known as The Hill. He had 3 older brothers and an older sister. His original nickname was "Lawdie" due to his mother's difficulty in pronouncing Larry correctly. Interesting to note; Berra grew up in the same neighborhood as Joe Garagiola and both attended South Side Catholic School. Berra quit school after the 8th grade.

His got his famous nickname from a friend who thought Berra resembled a Hindu holy man or yogi that they had seen in the movies together. His famous and unusual nickname together with his flair for the English language earned him a special spot in the hearts of sports fans everywhere.

Yogi first played baseball in the American Legion Leagues. This is where he learned the basics playing both in the outfield and infield positions. The New York Yankees beat Rickey to it when they they signed Berra up giving him a $500 signing bonus.

Due to his stint in the US Navy during WWII his baseball career was put on hold. It wasn't until 1946 that Berra was playing in the major leagues. He excelled with the Yankees and became the games best catcher. His accomplishments in baseball are numerous; he played in 14 World Series with 10 championships.
